The teams coordinated by scientists from the AGH University of Science and Technology will focus on developing decision support systems for passenger traffic and station management. Additionally, they will work on using digital twin technology (i.e. virtual copies of a process, machine or object that accurately reflects the behaviour of its tangible counterpart) and proposing solutions for hydrogen refuelling of locomotives.
Europe’s Rail Joint Undertaking is an undertaking and cooperation for the coming ten years. Twenty-five different ecosystems from many countries, gathered around entities such as Deutsche Bahn, Hitachi Rail, and Alstom Transport, have undertaken to shape the future of land transport.
Teams from all AGH faculties participating in the project are ready to overcome technological challenges related to a modern digital railway station and multimodal travel service and their future implementation in Poland and at our European partners.
Among the challenges that the WILIGZ team will undertake will be, among others: planning and control of network management and mobility management in a multimodal environment, as well as intelligent and integrated asset management.
On January 18, 2023, at the headquarters of PKP S.A. The kick-off meeting was held in Warsaw.
Scientists of our Faculty are also among the experts who will participate in projects implemented as part of the cooperation between AGH and PKP S.A. – Europe’s Rail Joint Undertaking partnership.
The research team from WILIGZ is represented by: dr hab. Eng. Barbara Kowal, prof. AGH (project coordinator), dr hab. Eng. Robert Ranosz, prof. AGH and cooperating in the project dr hab. Eng. Edyta Brzychczy, prof. AGH (WIMIR).
The entire project brings together 17 entities from Poland. These include: Łukasiewicz Research Network – Electrotechnical Institute, Łukasiewicz Research Network – EMAG Institute of Innovative Technologies, Centralny Port Komunikacyjny Sp. z o.o., PKP Energetyka SA and Łódzka Kolej Aglomeracyjna Sp. z o. o.
