On Friday, 26.05 this year, a field trip of FCE&RM students majoring in Safety Engineering together with the head and staff of the took place. We were hosted at the base of the Mountain Volunteer Rescue Service (GOPR) on Klimczok, and then their headquarters in Szczyrk. Our first stop, after a cable car trip and a mountain walk, was the GOPR base on Klimczok, where we had the opportunity to meet with the head of the Beskid Group. In addition to the status and structure, we also learned about the specifics of rescue operations. Not only that, the chief’s knowledge and experience at the level of Master Yoda, but he also shared with us some “pearls” from rescue operations.
We learned about the work (or rather passion) of rescuers and the rescue techniques used. We were also able to look at the equipment they use during rescue operations. Then the headquarters in Szczyrk – where the chief presented the rescue equipment and facilities, including specialized vehicles. We learned how the headquarters coordinates rescue operations and provides support for victims at different levels of search and rescue operations.
Oh, and important – GOPR is such a type of dispatch group! You will learn about others in the study of the IB WILiGZ AGH course.
Overall, the trip 100% pro. A lot of knowledge, some laughter and at the same time we learned about the importance of safety in the mountains. Also, if any of you have a chance to visit GOPR and their base on Klimczok on your own, we 100% recommend it!
