December 9 @ 08:00 17:00

On December 9, as part of the celebration of the AGH UST Barbórka 2021, the AGH UST Student Research Groups Conference took place. It was its 62nd edition. Despite the Conference’s title, as part of it, the results of their scientific research were presented by students from the entire University, representing a vast spectrum of scientific fields. In addition, we had the opportunity and pleasure to host young scientists from several technical universities in Poland and guests from abroad. They were participants from Ukraine and Great Britain.

Inauguration of the Conference

The Conference began with a ceremonial inauguration at the AGH UST Auditorium, attended by, among others, university and faculty authorities, club supervisors, and the speakers themselves. On behalf of the Rector’s Authorities, the Conference was opened by the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, prof. Rafał Dańko. Then, the Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Resource Management of AGH, the host of the Górnik’s Day, prof. Marek Cała. The next speaker was the Rector’s Representative for Student Research Groups of the Mining Division of AGH, DSc. Paweł Bogacz, prof. AGH, presenting the current structure, vibrant activity, and comprehensive plans of AGH research organisations. During the conference opening ceremony, the supervisors of scientific circles were honoured with particular merits for the student scientific movement at AGH in 2021, which was so difficult for activities due to the persistent pandemic. They were PhD Eng. Tymoteusz Turlej (supervisor of SKN AGH Drone Engineering), DSc. Adam Martowicz (supervisor of AGH Rapid Prototyping), DSc. Wojciech Horak (supervisor of KN MechaniCAD) and MSc. Katarzyna Styk (supervisor of SKN Zarządzanie). With laudation, the large numbers gathered in the Auditorium thanked those saying goodbye to their wheels – DSc. Krzysztof Skrzypkowski (eleven years of work with KN Pillar) and MSc. Michał Dworzak (construction of SKN Detonator and four years of caring for the wheel). A complete film report from the Conference’s opening ceremony can be seen at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVSsxrXWjoM

Thematic deliberations: Competition

After the ceremonial inauguration, the time has come for thematic deliberations. 275 AGH students from thirteen Faculties participated as speakers, representing 47 research organisations (thirty-one from the green area, nine from the red area and seven from the black area). There were also 11 foreign guests among the speakers. As part of the debates in 18 thematic sections, 197 papers were delivered, which they had the opportunity to admire, listening to them, countless crowds of listeners sitting (of course in the sanitary regime) in conference rooms throughout the Academy, as well as in rooms on various online communication platforms. The deliberations of the Conference took place in the hybrid model.

The lectures and discussions continued throughout the day. A competition for the best papers was held in each section, which was assessed by a jury composed of experts in individual fields. They all emphasised the very high substantive level of the prepared materials, often pointing to big problems in choosing the best. Also, but of course not only that, on this basis, it can be concluded that all the speakers and prepared papers deserve great appreciation and thunderous applause. The jury deliberations finally resulted in decisions. Detailed results from all thematic sections can be found at: http://www.knpg.agh.edu.pl/62-bkskn-pokonferencyjne-podsumowanie/ .

The above did not end with the ceremonial gala. In its next act, a short concert on a ceramic violin was held as part of one of the projects carried out as part of the AGH Rector’s Grant program by KN Ceramika Artystyczna.

In the next part of the evening, the AGH UST Representative Orchestra performed a fantastic performance in the cloisters of the AGH UST Main Hall presented a set of songs entitled “Long live the mining state – also in a pandemic.”

Another essential moment awaited the winners of the Conference. During the AGH UST Senate Solemn debates, the next day, they received a laudation from him.

Once again, congratulating all the participants of the Conference, it is impossible not to notice that their success would not be possible without the dedicated work and passion of the tutors and tutors of individual papers, for which I would like to thank them very much.

I would also like to warmly thank the wonderful organising committee of the Conference, composed of representatives of the student research groups operating at AGH, including RG – Zarządzanie from the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Resource Management. Without their organisational support, it would not have been possible to prepare this fantastic scientific event so quickly (in terms of pace), which was undoubtedly 62—St Barbara’s Conference of AGH University of Science and Technology Students.

Also, I cordially invite everyone to participate in the 63rd edition of the Conference.
