On Friday, September 29, at the Didactics Center of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, a conference was held entitled. “Occupational safety – education and good practices”. The event, also took place on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of education at the Postgraduate Studies in Occupational Safety and Health. The organizers were the Department of Mining Engineering and Occupational Safety at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Resource Management of AGH University of Science and Technology and the All-Polish Society of Occupational Safety and Health Service Employees, Krakow Branch.
The Conference was held under the Honorary Patronage of Minister of Family and Social Policy Ms. Marlena Maląg, Chairman of the Council for Work Protection at the Sejm of the Republic of Poland MP Janusz Śniadek and His Magnificence Rector of AGH Professor Jerzy Lis. The Honorary Committee included the Chief Labor Inspector Katarzyna Łażewska-Hrycko, Chief Sanitary Inspector Krzysztof Saczka, Chief Fire Chief of the State Fire Service Andrzej Bartkowiak, President of the Higher Mining Authority Adam Mirek, President of the Office of Technical Inspection Andrzej Ziółkowski, Director of the Central Institute for Labor Protection PIB Wiktor Zawieska, Director of the Institute of Occupational Medicine Jolanta Walusiak-Skorupa and President of the Board of the All-Poland Association of Occupational Safety and Health Service Employees Józef Witczak.

The Conference was attended by more than 150 participants, including graduates and lecturers of postgraduate studies in occupational safety and health, employees of universities and occupational safety and health services, as well as representatives of central institutions, supervisory authorities, scientific and training units and organizations related to the occupational safety and health industry.
The guests of the Conference were welcomed by AGH Prof. Zbigniew Burtan, D.Sc., Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Head of the Department of Mining Engineering and Occupational Safety. The proceedings were opened by Prof. Wojciech Łużny, D.Sc., Pro Rector for Education at AGH, Prof. Marek Cała, D.Sc., Chairman of the Scientific Committee, Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Resource Management, and Paweł Kania, Vice-Chairman of the Organizing Committee, President of the Board of the All-Poland Association of Occupational Safety and Health Service Employees, Krakow Branch.
Twenty-seven papers were delivered during the Conference, and the deliberations were conducted in an opening session and 3 thematic sessions.
The speeches in the thematic sessions focused on issues related to formal and legal aspects of safety, OSH education and training, risks and safety management, protective measures, safety culture, and workers’ mental health and safety.
The first session, devoted to formal and legal aspects of safety and OSH education and training, featured papers on schooling techniques and methods, the communication competencies of OSH workers, or legal aspects of chemical substances and performing remote work. The second thematic session, which included papers on hazards and safety management and protective measures, was full of lectures on issues of occupational diseases, the possibilities of technique and technology in remote monitoring of workplaces or the organization of ergonomic workplaces. The final third session on safety culture and workers’ psychological health and safety brought participants closer to the problems of workers’ behavior, their approach to work, their active participation in shaping safe, ergonomic and hygienic working conditions, and the issues of measuring and raising the level of safety culture in enterprises.
The thematic range of papers allowed participants to learn and analyze the latest trends and broad issues of safety and occupational protection issues, while exchanging opinions during the plenary and backstage discussions. In the sub-supplement of the proceedings, President Pawel Kania stressed the importance of the conference, including the exchange of scientific achievements and experiences in the gathered interdisciplinary environment of ex-perts.
The Conference organizers would like to thank all Participants and Partners for their commitment and creating a friendly atmosphere, while expressing confidence that the Conference will serve to promote educational activities and the implementation of good practices for the improvement of safe working conditions in various areas of the economy.
