ZZM is a partner of AGH
Joint development of projects related to the management of natural resources is the subject of a cooperation agreement signed on September 14, 2022, between the AGH-UST and The Management of the Kraków Municipal Greenspace Authority (ZZM).
The cooperation will be implemented through the exchange of knowledge and skills, mutual sharing of hardware resources, and joint creation of scientific publications, in particular:
- promotion of issues related to the areas of environmental engineering, environmental protection, spatial management and construction,
- initiating scientific and research works aimed at the exchange of current knowledge of AGH and ZZM employees in the common area of interest,
- enabling apprenticeships or internships for students and graduates of AGH at ZZM.
Together, we can achieve more.
Thanks to the existing cooperation with AGH, the City Greenery Board has carried out several projects, including revitalising the Wojciech Bednarski Park, in which several AGH faculties collaborated. Geotechnical and geological issues were challenging, but the substantive cooperation allowed us to find an appropriate solution. Currently, activities are being carried out to develop and restore the “Białe Morza” area. The solutions designed on this occasion will have to meet many requirements.
– AGH University of Science and Technology has a unique profile: technical and engineering sciences combined with humanities and social sciences. As an academic community that focuses on applicability apart from research and development activities, we can apply our knowledge. We are part of Krakow, and we observe how it changes and develops; we add our brick based on the sciences conducted by our scientists. Most importantly, we do not stop there – explains the AGH UST Vice-Rector for General Affairs, prof. Tadeusz Telejko.
– The AGH For.Rest campaign, which we carry out together with AGH / WILiGZ, is an example of an activity that fits perfectly into the complex strategy of the City Greenery Board. As ZZM, we do not limit ourselves only to caring for urban greenery. Our primary mission is multi-faceted work consisting of planning, creating and nurturing the green tissue of the city of Krakow. Thanks to cooperation with local communities, we find optimal solutions tailored to the needs of the residents. Our main goal is for everyone to have green recreational areas close to their residence, developed attractively. We support nature while respecting the cultural heritage of the city of Krakow. Through activities such as the action mentioned earlier, we jointly improve the ecological balance and influence the city policy in improving the quality of life of the inhabitants of Krakow and its surroundings – said Piotr Kempf, Director of the Management of the Kraków Municipal Greenspace Authority (ZZM).
– The dynamic development of Krakow contributes to new activities. ZZM is a pioneer in many aspects of shaping the environment due to its interdisciplinary approach to resource management. Successful initiatives mark our cooperation, and we collaborated on revitalising the slopes of the Wawel Castle. The task was not easy, and the complexity of the issues required a lot of work. We have achieved success together. We are currently cooperating in the revitalisation of Bednarski Park and the area of “Białe Morza” – the former Krakow Soda Factory area. It is also worth mentioning the initiative that is part of the inauguration of the AGH For.Rest academic year – the cyclical planting of trees in Krakow. This year, on October 7, we will plant 104 trees. Together as always – explains prof. Marek Cała, Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Resource Management.
The contract was signed by the parties’ representatives: AGH UST Vice-Rector for General Affairs prof. Tadeusz Telejko and Piotr Kempf, Director of the City Greenery Board in Krakow. The Faculty of Civil Engineering and Resource Management initiated and coordinated the cooperation.
