On December 10, 2024, a VR training was held as part of the DigiRescueMe project. It was combined with educational workshops for young people from the Technical School Complex in Rybnik. The meeting was attended by 50 high school students under the supervision of two teachers. The director of ZST Rybnik – Mr. Piotr Tokarz was also present.

The meeting began with a speech by the Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Resource Management – Assoc. Prof. Arkadiusz Kustra. The Dean welcomed all the gathered employees of the Faculty and guests from ZST Rybnik. Then the floor was also taken by Assoc. Prof. Dariusz Foszcz – head of the Department of Environmental Engineering, where the project was realized. At the end of the training and workshops’ opening ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Tomasz Niedoba, who is the coordinator of the DigiRescueMe project on behalf of AGH, gave a short speech presenting the main goals of the project.

The participants of the training were then divided into four groups and took part in four independent training sessions conducted by Faculty staff in a rotational system. The VR session, combined with training as part of the project, was led by Dr. Michał Patyk, the session on risk analysis – MSc. Eng. Michał Dworzak, and the mining sessions were conducted by Assoc. Prof. Krzysztof Skrzypkowski and Dr. Zbigniew Rak. The logistics and the entire event were supervised by Assoc. Prof. Agnieszka Surowiak, Dr. Rafał Łuczak and MSC. Eng. Klaudia Zwolińska-Glądys. It is worth mentioning that technical assistance during the training was also provided by Dr. Mateusz Sikora, despite being on sick leave.

The training ended with a test checking the general knowledge of students, which was conducted using the Kahoot platform. The winner was Marek Zając, who won the main prize. Those who took the podium also received prizes, and each participant of the training received a certificate of participation and memorabilia related to AGH.
