Poland Business Run 2022 – Students and employees of WILGZ actively support

On September 4, we will run to help.
In this year’s edition of the run, which will take place on September 4, there will be seven teams from the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Resource Management at AGH, with 35 runners. Poland Business Run 2022 returns to Kraków after a two-year break and will be held in a combined format. This means that you will be able to take part in the run in two ways: in Kraków, as part of a traditional running competition or anywhere in the world, by choosing the option of virtual competition.
The AGH UST WILGZ teams will take part in a ceremonial race through Krakow. We are guided by one goal – supporting the purchase of prostheses and prams and providing rehabilitation and psychological support for people with motor disabilities and after mastectomy.
The 35-person team consists of students and employees of our community, who will start in the relay race over a distance of 20 kilometres in mixed teams. Together, we will run through the set goal, contributing to eliminating physical and metaphorical social barriers.
Poland Business Run Foundation – support and elimination of social barriers
The initiative, founded by several runners from Krakow in 2012, brings together thousands of teams willing to help others together and actively. The Poland Business Run Foundation organizes a charity run for people with physical disabilities every year. This year’s edition will support an additional group – women who need rehabilitation and psychological help after breast amputation.
In Poland, about 20,000 women discover that they suffer from breast cancer each year. Nearly 140,000 Polish women live with the disease. Since 2021, breast cancer has been declared the most frequently diagnosed type of cancer globally. Diagnosis and treatment are one of the main aspects of prevention. At the same time, women who have undergone mastectomy face additional challenges – self-acceptance and social prejudices.
The participants of the run directly impact the size of the budget that also supports rehabilitation after surgery aimed at regaining full fitness. Most patients after mastectomy complain of pain, limited range of motion and reduced strength in hand on the operated side. This causes dysfunction in basic activities such as combing, dressing, and lifting heavier objects. Therefore, it is imperative to implement rehabilitation to improve the functional hand.

We are still collecting records of people interested in participating in the 2022 run. Applications via the Poland Business Run platform can be made until May 31, 2022.
All you need to do is contact one of the Coordinators of the WILGZ teams by e-mail, declare your willingness to participate in the event, and specify the preferred size of the t-shirt. This year, as befits the national team, our teams will start wearing the official costumes of WILGZ. As a result, we will be noticeable during the run and on the podium.
