August 22 All day
The Nezlamna Ukraine Foundation is visiting the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Resource Management.
Due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, many families were forced to leave their homes. During the first three months of the war, over 6 million Ukrainians crossed the border, 90% of whom were children with mothers and grandmothers. They are looking for a safe place to shape and develop their children.
Poland is currently one of the countries where Ukrainian families are headed. As the closest neighbour, we willingly opened the doors of our homes to refugees from Ukraine. Mothers who have thus decided to move their families now need to focus on building a family life from scratch, finding a source of income and ensuring that their children’s lives continue as usual.
Unbreakable Ukraine is a foundation whose goal is to create Ukrainian schools in Poland for children who have been forced to relocate due to Russia’s military aggression.
The establishment of the First Ukrainian School in Krakow is carried out with the support of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
AGH UST is an oasis for a Ukrainian school summer camp
Thanks to the initiative of the Dean of the Faculty, prof. Marka Cala, we opened the door for 138 children, providing the Foundation with a lecture room to organise classes for August. We did not stop there. Volunteers consisting of employees and students of the Faculty support our guests daily. As the University community, we stood together once again; hand in hand, we approached the organisation of the best summer camp for Ukrainian youth.
Thanks to the inter-unit cooperation between AGH and the university community, we have created a perfect summer camp as a unity, under the symbol of science and dialogue. AZS AGH and the School of Physical Education of the AGH have provided a gym and staff that organise special events throughout the month. Representatives of the Faculty of Metals Engineering and Industrial Computer Science organised an interactive lecture about the microworld, bringing the fascinating microworld closer. The Faculty of Physics and Applied Computer Science conducted a series of demonstrations introducing physical issues in the form of spectacular experiments. The AGH UST Cheerleaders team conducted special workshops on cheerleading. Each initiative requires the cooperation of many people, and so does the organisation of such a large project. There are a lot of materials from each event. In a future publication, we will present how much commitment we have received from others and what miracles we can create together. At the moment, we can only say – Thank you.
Summary meeting
On August 26, there will be a summary of the Summer Camp of the First Ukrainian School in Krakow. On this day, there will be a special event for everyone involved and interested in the university. The event will take place in building A0 in the second half of the day (around 3 pm). We will present the exact location and starting time soon.
We are not able to present the details of the scenario because the Ukrainian students are preparing a special surprise, specifically for us, for the AGH University of Science and Technology.
