LEANathon Summary.

On 18-19 November 2021, the 24-hour final of the 2nd edition of the nationwide LEANathon competition on Lean Manufacturing, addressed to students, took place. The event was organised by students belonging to the Student Scientific Association “Management” operating at the Department of Economics and Management in Industry at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Resource Management of AGH University of Science and Technology.

After the first stage, 5 teams qualified for the finals. We hosted representatives of two teams from the Poznań University of Technology, two teams from the Białystok University of Technology and one team from the AGH University of Science and Technology. Four teams had to face the practical task of optimising warehouse space. The task was prepared by the competition partner, the Pacyga Meble company. After an intensive night, they presented their projects to the commission.

The committee composed of PhD Paweł Bogacz, Mrs. Katarzyna Styk and Mr. Jakub Leśniak evaluated the projects. Decision about choosing the winning team was not easy. The jury deliberated very long. Finally, the first place took the team from AGH “Myszojelenie” consisting of Rafa Wiktor, Burkot Adam, Germel Kinga, Biedrawa Marcin. However, the team from Poznan University of Technology “Leantorpeda” got honorary award, composed of: Kłysiak Karolina, Kryczka Bartosz, Szarecka Sandra and Majrzak Agata.

Awards.

The main prize for each member of the winning team is a certified course funded by the LUQAM company, with a total value of nearly 4000 zł. Pacyga Meble company also funded a cash prize of 1500 zł. Members of the distinguished team received a set of courses from Lean Action Plan worth 1300 zł.

We would like to congratulate all winners and finalists and we would like to invite all students to the next year’s edition of LEANathon, which will certainly become one of the events organised by the Student’s Scientific Association “Management”.
