WILiGZ day!

Each of us has several dates that are important to us written down in the calendar. Sometimes it is the birthday of people close to us; sometimes it is the date of important events in our lives. We, as the WILiGZ community, also have several such dates. We want to share one of them with you – on May 26, 2022. On this day, as you know, Mother’s Day is celebrated.

For us, it is a day on which, thanks to the support of the Rector of AGH, prof. Jerzy Lis, we started the next stage of the Faculty’s development by becoming the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Resource Management at AGH.

We would like to devote this special day only to our community. The uniqueness of this date makes us want to take you from the AGH UST campus and take you on a trip around Krakow. For this reason, this year, as part of the WILiGZ Day, we invite all employees, students, friends and supporters from 11.00 am to the beach area of Forum Przestrzenie close to Balon Widokowy Krakowa.

Why the Forum?

As a faculty educating young people in technical sciences, we focus on developing creative courage. After all, our students are to leave after graduation with knowledge and an open-minded attitude. The same goes for our employees! At each step of the learning path, we must leave our comfort zone to discover new things, work out a new idea and turn it into innovation. Sometimes we have to soar into the scientific clouds to come up with new things and be able to carry them out after descending to Earth. Limits and restrictions are only an illusion, so we will remind participants that the abilities we believe in extend beyond the horizon. Sometimes it is necessary to look at everything in perspective to understand how and with what we can influence a single element to impact the system as a whole.

So why Forum Przestrzenie and the Balon Widokowy? Because these are places inscribed on the cultural map of Krakow, these are the site of cultural events that often break barriers. Moreover, they attract people full of aspirations who would like to break a certain form and convention and are ready to leave their comfort zone. It is also a place where we can all have unique fun celebrating this particular day! Sounds familiar? Are we not describing our academic community?

Look us UP!

This event’s uniqueness will make you see the whole of Krakow from a new perspective. You may not know, but Krakow, one of Poland’s few cities, is characterized by high sentiment and respect for heritage. It is a city of inventive and creative people, and thanks to our daily activities, it is the capital of engineering thinking. Are we not driven by the will to develop?

Therefore, on WILiGZ Day, we have such an opportunity. We will take the balloon high so that you can look at the city and seize a new perspective. Let this flight be a kind of symbolism of our development or soaring aspirations. Let’s take to the skies together as the WILiGZ community. Let all of Krakow see us – the best students and employees one could wish for.
