An initiative supporting access to free hygiene products
“Pink Boxes”. What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you read these words? Does the right option come to your mind right away? The Pink Box is an initiative launched by the Foundation of the same name, which has been providing universal access to accessible personal hygiene products for women during menstruation for several years.
The latest initiative of the WILGZ Council of Students – “Pink boxes” – makes a lot of noise in the academic community. You can already find these boxes at our Faculty in buildings A1 and A4 at the AGH-UST campus.
The idea behind the initiative
One might wonder – How does it work? Each box contains essential hygiene products such as sanitary napkins, tampons and panty liners that can be taken free of charge. Parcels will be regularly replenished by WRSS WILGZ and people open to the needs that this initiative responds to. Thanks to this, women who need them can always count on them. It is supposed to work according to the principle: take if you need, leave something if you have excess! Become a part of this programme.
You are part of it too
By joining the “Pink Boxes” initiative, the Faculty’s Council of Students at the WILGZ contributes to improving the quality of life of women in the academic community. Undoubtedly more than one of the women had a menstrual surprise at least once in her life. This might be associated with stress, discomfort and the follow-up question, “what am I going to do now”. Not everyone is brave enough to ask a friend for help, just as not everyone can afford to buy a whole new package of necessary personal care products. Giving women access to hygiene products in public places increases their dignity and sense of comfort and helps them in everyday activities such as study and work.
Through the “Pink Boxes” initiative, the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Resource Management shows that it cares about the needs of its students and employees and is committed to improving the situation of women in the community. This initiative is a step in the right direction regarding gender equality and women’s personal dignity.
