The WILiGZ 2022 ball
November 5 All day
The WILiGZ 2022 ball, which took place on November 5, 2022 at the Swing Hotel in Krakow, has already gone down in history. The very idea of the Engineer’s Ball was born years ago and has become an annual tradition bringing together students and graduates not only of our Faculty but also of the entire AGH University of Science and Technology. When the Covid-19 pandemic forced a 2-year break in the organization of this event, we all deeply believed that it would return in safer times. The first post-pandemic Faculty Ball enjoyed considerable interest, and as a result nearly 200 people took part in it.
It was an ideal opportunity to integrate, have fun and forget about the daily worries of student life, at least for one night. The theme of the whole event was the Oscars Gala night – Hollywood. We couldn’t do without all those elegant outfits, a red carpet and, of course, Oscar statuettes! The whole evening was ennobled with themed decorations, movie posters and tables bearing the names of the biggest movie hits of the golden and silver era of Hollywood. We were accompanied by Marilyn Monroe from “The Seven Year Itch” as well as Audrey Hepburn from “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.“
The event was inaugurated with a speech delivered by none other than Professor dr hab. Eng. Marek Cała – Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Resources Management. Then the floor was taken by Agnieszka Rychlewska – President of the Student Council of our Faculty. In splendid words, they greeted the entire student fellowship and extended the wishes of outstanding fun. After the toast, the music began to play, and all the participants started to dance. It was high time to start the polonaise dance! Throughout the night we were accompanied by great music and delicious food, the quintessence of which was a cake stylized to look like concrete. The ball lasted until the morning, and everyone regretted that it ended so quickly… We hope that the spell of memories will remain with the participants for many years to come.
