WILGZ at the Contemporary Local Geological Administration Conference

Uniting for Progress
From October 4th to 6th, 2023, we had the honor of participating in the 2nd Contemporary Local Geological Administration Conference held in the picturesque town of Jastrzębia Góra. This annual event, organized by the prestigious State Geological Institute – State Research Institute, is primarily aimed at local government administration professionals and focuses on issues related to geological administration and the exploitation of natural resources.
Hydrogeological Challenges in Open-Pit Mining
This year’s edition of the conference gathered an impressive number of over 400 participants. The main thematic area was hydrogeological aspects related to open-pit mining, which posed significant challenges to geological administration.
Our organization, WILGZ, had the pleasure of being represented by three individuals who made significant contributions to the discussions and knowledge exchange:
- Łukasz Machniak delivered a presentation during the inaugural session titled “Discrepancies in Administrative Procedures – Impact on Mining Entrepreneurs” and actively participated in a panel discussion on “Closure of Mining Facilities in Relation to Environmental Conditions.”
- Wojciech Naworyta presented his paper in a panel session entitled “Avoiding Mistakes in the Reclamation of Post-Mining Areas” and took part in a panel discussion focused on environmental aspects during the closure of mining facilities.
- Kazimierz Różkowski presented a paper in a panel session on “Possibilities for Mitigating the Impact of Open-Pit Extraction of Rock Materials on Aquatic Environments in Practice” and also participated in a panel discussion on “Water Management in the Context of Open-Pit Mining Operations.”
This unique event provided us with valuable knowledge and experience that we can apply in our daily work to protect the environment and ensure the sustainable use of natural resources. We would like to express our gratitude to the organizers for their excellent conference management and to all participants for inspiring discussions.
